Janet Johnson (ジャネット・ジョンソン) is a minor supporting character that first appeared as a gossip columnist for the Galaxy Sports News on the Macross 7 television series. She is sister of Michael Johnson, Mayor Millia's aide.

Janet was first seen working as a gossip columnist for the Galaxy Sports News in the 31st episode "Passionate Scandal" of the Macross 7 television series. During the height of Fire Bomber's popularity, several tabloids began publishing sensationalist articles about lead singer Basara Nekki's love life or outlandish accusations such as whether he was the lovechild of the singer Lynn Minmay. Janet jumps on the bandwagon and begins articles such as Basara's secret love affair with the biker Rex, sometimes using her older brother Michael Johnson as a source.
At one point, she confronts Basara on whether he was having a secret rendezvous with Mylene Flare Jenius at a local greenhouse (much to the chagrin of Mayor Milia). Janet then uncovers Basara was actually singing to the Protodeviln dormant Sivil in secret. She has a change of heart upon seeing Basara defeat Gigile through song, and retires from her life as a tabloid journalist. She reappears in the 39th episode, now working as a serious reporter.

- Janet's change in attitude towards journalism greatly resembles that of Hibiki Kanzaki.
- The following day after Janet quit, Galaxy Sports News reported on Basara's alleged affair with ace pilot Gamlin Kizaki.
- Like her brother, Michael Johnson, Janet also wears rimless glasses. In the 39th episode of the series however, she is seen without them, but there's no info whether or not they have a corrective grade or she just started wearing contacts.
